The Group
Commodities are the heart of our economy, its fuel. Glencore, headquartered in Switzerland, is the most important commodity trading company in the world. Involved in the production and sales of oil, soy, zinc, copper, cobalt, aluminum, coal, etc, it earns more revenue than Apple. What it mines and moves touch virtually every facet of our hyper-wired lives.
And yet, who knows about Glencore? Its anonymity contrasts with its economic weight and its influence in our lives. My project is a photographic portrait of a huge player -- symbol of countless abuses -- by showing its functioning and impact around the world, notably in Kazakhstan, Chad and Colombia. But also in Switzerland, London and Singapore, to show the other side, the cosy world of commodity traders.
